Discover a Garden Route Tour with our professional tour guides in an air-conditioned mini-bus, and see the wonders of this breathtaking part of South Africa.
On the first morning, we travel via the town of Montagu on ‘Route 62’ to the pretty village of Barrydale. Then on to Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘Feather Capital of the World’ thanks to its huge ostrich industry. After a fascinating tour of an ostrich farm, we go underground to marvel at the icy formations in the Cango Caves, regarded as one of South Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders. We overnight in an Oudshoorn hotel.
The next day, we drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to the town of George, where we then continue onto Knysna in the best possible way – on board of the nostalgic steam train, the Outeniqua Choo- Tjoe. Upon arrival in Knysna - in the heart of the Garden Route - we continue to the popular seaside resort of Plettenberg Bay, playground of South Africa’s rich and famous.
We visit the 'Garden of Eden' forest, where we enjoy a leisurely walk through this aptly named natural paradise, before arriving back at Knysna and spend the night in one of the Knysna Garden Route hotels.
On the third morning, we enjoy a cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon and visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone ‘Heads’ which guard the sea’s entrance to the huge tidal lagoon of Knysna, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches surrounding it. After lunch the remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy this lovely and special town.
Another night will be spend in a hotel in Knysna. The next morning we head back to Cape Town, via Swellendam and Hermanus, which has earned international fame for whale watching (July to November only).
We arrive in Cape Town in the late afternoon, and say our goodbyes either at a central Cape Town hotel or the airport.
The Garden Route Tour departs every Monday from Cape Town.
