Enjoy a Cape Winelands Tour and escape to the tranquillity and ‘old world’ charm of the Paarl, Franschoek and Stellenbosch wine areas.
South Africa bottles around 65 million cases of wine per year and some of the premium award winning wine estates in the Franschoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl areas are the source of these world-class wines. Zanzee.com offers you a great Cape winelands tour to a number of excellent Western Cape winefarms.
Our first stop is the famous Afrikaans Language Monument. Situated on Paarl Rock, it also offers spectacular views of the surrounding wineland area. Paarl, situated just 50 km north-east of Cape Town, is one of the three oldest European settlements in South Africa. The fertile ground and Mediterranean climate provides perfect conditions for vineyards.
We travel to prize-winning wine estates, for a wine tasting and wineland tour, after which we visit the Huguenot Monument and Museum in Franschhoek. Franschoek forms part of the famous Cape Winelands. The French connection goes back to the French Huguenots - French Protestants who fled Catholic persecution in the seventeenth century. Franschhoek is well known for its excellent restaurants.
Lunch during our Cape Winelands Tour is in one of the many restaurants in either Franschhoek or Stellenbosch (own account). Stellenbosh is a rich, lush and beautiful part of the wine country, and was founded in 1679, the second oldest town in Western Cape South Africa. The pavement cafe's, streets and wine estates are shaded by giant oak trees, and should not be missed.
We visit Dorp street in Stellenbosh and the world-famous 19th Century Shop, ‘Oom Samies se Winkel’, before returning to your hotel in Cape Town.
The Cape Winelands Tour departs Mon/Wed and Fri at 09h00. Spanish departures Wed/Fri - min 2 persons.
