Hunk heaven! This is where all the sun gods with sixpack tummies hang out all summer showing off the latest curve-hugging swimwear. Oh, and yes, Clifton is one of the most beautiful beaches on offer in the Cape. It’s also one of the few beaches sheltered from the infamous Cape southeaster. Make sure to get there early on sunny days, otherwise there’s always the option of 1st, 2nd and 4th beaches where a mixed crowd hangs out.
Park in Victoria Road (Clifton) or Clifton Beach parking area, find the 3rd Beach sign and follow the steps down.
If you want to hang loose this is definitely your spot. It is the only nudist beach in the Cape and popular cruising area. It does offer private spots where you can soak up the sun in peace and quiet as it is one of the most pristine and secluded beaches on the Atlantic seaboard. Be warned that you’ll have to walk about 1 km from the parking area to get to the beach. Come early (pardon the pun) as not much parking is available.
Follow the M6 along the Atlantic seaboard from Sea Point and turn off to Lundudno just before Hout Bay. Follow the road signs to Sandy Bay.
